Untitled (How Does It Feel)
Has anybody read any of the 33 1/3 books yet? I've finished In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, Harvest, and Endtroducing..., and I can wholeheartedly recommend all three, especially Aeroplane. I also have but haven't yet read The Village Green Preservation Society and Elvis Costello's Armed Forces. They have a bunch of good ones coming out later this year too, including Doolittle and Songs in the Key of Life. For some reason though, D'Angelo's Voodoo isn't among them...

I'm really excited to read this stuff. I haven't really quite wrapped head around NMH yet. I'll dig into it this week and form a solid opinion. Jed, I know you and Kurt think it's like the best record ever... tell me why!
I've officially conceded that I will "(Untitled) Never Live that Down" ... but I still stand firm.
Well, I've tried, but I honestly do not have the ability to express in words why I like it to the extent that I do, so I'm going to borrow a quote from one of my favorite reviews: "In a world that constantly seems crass and cheap and mean, where cynicism is the dominant philosophy and sarcasm the dominant conduct, where what matters most is showing off what you can buy, where the most popular television programs encourage us to laugh at ordinary people willingly allowing themselves to be publicly frightened and humiliated for money, this record shows you the world trembling with beauty, transparent, enveloping, able to be redeemed or destroyed by how much love you bring to it, and, ultimately, holy." Also, I'd be happy to mail you guys the books that I have if you'd like to read them.
I know how you feel about perhaps even being flustered about the inability to articulate just how much a record floors you. I've been utterly tounge-tied about Illinoise for a while now. I'll be listening to In the Aeroplane all night tonight...
i listened to that album a long time ago and didn't think much of it. I've listened to many albums in this way, just one or two songs and didn't give it a real chance. I'll be downloading it tonight and giving it a whirl
